Burnett's Mountain Oct 8th, 2021

Thursday night while relaxing near Barry's Bay it was decided to go the next day to go to the Spectacle Lakes and Burnett's Mountain trails area. And after looking at the map considered an option that would be maybe 15k there and back.

Wanting to keep it easy after the day prior Triple Crown ride so looked at the map to see what might catch my eye. And looking at the online map and comparing to the Back Roads Map Book spotted an option that was an "easy" 5-7 km ride out Burnett's Mountain. I would be starting from the same spot where began the exploration ride in 2020.

This time I would be heading roughly north instead which would mean crossing Highway 60. After getting to the trailhead it was time to load up and ride while my friend went for a hike. Brief climb up from the Dirtbag Ute and unlike last year going straight turned left and headed north on Spectacle Lake Trail heading for Highway 60. Crossed highway 60 and headed up Spectacle Lakes Trail.

Passing Bear Marsh on my right heading north and after about 2.8 km passed Fish Lake Mtn Trail on the left heading for Burnett's Trail about 0.7KM further. Got to the junction and turned left on Burnett's Trail for a few meters to the summit trail on the right.

After another bout of Barry's Bay type Hike-A -Bike was at the summit of Burnett's Mtn. Again like all previous taking my time getting up to get there. And to enjoy the view with was the last beverage brought on the trip for the top. Looking down at Fish Lake from the highest part of this part of the trail area.

After a bit of relaxing it was time to head back retracing my route coming out back to the Dirtbag Ute . On the way back to Highway 60 going around a couple of big puddles. Same one's heading out earlier. After a bit of riding was back at and crossing Highway 60.

After about 1.2km on Spectacle Lake trail after crossing highway 60 was back at the trailhead and the Dirtbag Ute.

Drank some Dr Pepper from the cooler and chilled for a bit waiting for my friend to return from their hike. After all back safely and relaxed for a wee bit it was load up and back to Barry's Bay then into Combermere for some food from Bent Pizza. Before the long drive back to Kingston with this making it 5 peaks on this trip making it a good few days away.
