Revising Camden East Loop- May 10th

Updated: Jul 21

With it finally warm and the mud drying a bit it I thought was time to do the first ride of the Camden East Loop. After getting to the Camden East Park and Ride Lot I decided that it was time to make a bit of a change to the route.

So instead would remove the Park and Ride Lot from the route and the narrow road and overpass of the 401. After the last year and observing certain reactions to things it was I feel the best thing to do for the long run. That being to remove an area with no shoulders and to many things to pay attention to.

So started the ride at the dead end of Maple Road the gravel road and set out to simply re-map the loop with the slight revision. And as expected the mud was in the usual locations and same with the puddles of questionable depth.

Interesting wee surprise. Looks like a rider with skinnier tires as in a CX or Gravel bike decided to wander this route. Cool to see after almost 4 years finally someone else tire tracks.

And 4 years on the quarter loop outhouse still on the outside looks the same. Say enter at your own risk. As per normal the rest of the loop was as per normal. With the usual hugging the gravel edge when on the bit of road...almost in the ditch.

Unfortunately no mid loop stop at the Camden East Esso again as not supposed to. Sucks as can admit the cookies there are great and not made by Country Style. Kinda lost tradition for rides to take that pause.

After Camden East it was the last half back. Unmaintained track and then the gravel road with the long gravel downhill where you can see it go down like steps kinda as you approach it.

Then it was back to the Dirt Bag Ute at the end of Maple Dr near the On Route. Then begins the post ride as they call it "self care". Or is that me done me hungry me need food. So crank up the old Primus stove and get ready to eat a bit.

4 years after getting the Dirt Bag Ute and definitely making use of it as the adventure truck. And more mods coming soon to make it better. In the end not a fast ride but a good ride with the goal achieved. That goal being the re-routing the Camden East Loop to be better for one with PTSI. And to help manage it better.
