Parrot’s Bay Conservation Area High Point May 16th 2023

About a year or so ago while looking at Peakbagger found a high point listed in Parrot's Bay Conservation Area.

Though after looking at it closer it was kind of an easy one to get. Too easy so put it aside to think about later. And while nearing the end of the healing from knee surgery and the hours of physio to get the Range Of Motion. Wrote out a list of rides and such wanted to do. And while doing this Parrot's Bay came up while was looking at map.

Headed out and began the trip along Highway 2 towards the Conservation Area. Along meaning as far over to the right as possible on the gravel shoulder. Then around Coronation Blvd following the ATV track heading east. This is what one has to do to find ways to do things around physical trauma caused PTSI.

To be clear up till this ride hadn't seriously thought if could ride it in any form. Why? Because the events on March 2019 changed things forever and it takes a lot of time to figure out how to manage the mental illness aspect of those events . And how to manage them in ways that allow one to do things that those who haven't these issues don't have to consider.

After navigating the ATV track beside Highway 2 including the ravine with a bit of mud big navigating. Arrived at the trailhead to Parrot's Bay to head into the area where the high point or "peak" of the area is.

Navigated the trails to the rough point where Peakbagger showed the high point to roughly be. Once in the rough area found out the high point was about 10m off the trail.

Got the all important phot at the high point. Followed by back at the bike the usual beverage shot aka Rum. Then it was back on the bike to head to the trailhead.

Once back at the trailhead it was now reversing the route out back to the Collins Bay Area. Well maybe not the original trailhead but after a hop the fence it was across Taylor Kidd. And riding the ATV track in reverse towards Collins Bay Road.

On the way back got passed by a CN Rail train heading East.

The way back was the same as heading back. Using the ATV track on the north side of Taylor Kidd. This is the reality for me of March 4th 2019.

Just before Collins Creek headed into the woods to a spot to have the beer I carried all the way there and back. As till then there was no real good place at least in my head to have a beer as didn't feel like watching traffic from a rock. So stopped by the creek to have a beer and relax with less traffic to be seen.

After the beer it was time to head home with task accomplished. Would I do it again? No I don't foresee me doing it again as it was a nice challenge it wasn't as exciting as thought. It really became more of an exercise to prove what I need to do to ride and the work arounds I need to come up with. Maybe in a couple of years when I am bored and looking for something to d may do it again. but there is other challenges more stimulating to work on.
